Technical details

Holsum Elm Dairy has 4,000 cows, and converts the methane from manure to renewable energy via an anaerobic digester gasfired combined heat and power unit. This helps the environment because its a renewable source of energy that has a lower greenhouse gas impact than fossil fuels from traditional generation, and it prevents methane from being released into the atmosphere which has a greater GHG impact than CO2.
